AR Interactive Map Installation
The Gates Interactive Map was a large-scale touchscreen installation created for "Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Gates and Unrealized Projects for New York City," an exhibition at The Shed in New York. The centerpiece was an 18-foot tabletop display driven by a cluster of iPads, presenting an interactive map of Central Park overlaid with geolocated archival photographs and 360° photospheres from the original 2005 installation of The Gates.
I served as Technical Director for the interactive map component, built by Pixels Pixels as part of the broader exhibition experience created by Dirt Empire. My role covered the full technical arc of the project — from early prototyping and hardware selection through to installation, calibration, and handoff. The system needed to be robust enough for continuous public use while remaining responsive and intuitive for visitors of all ages exploring the park's geography and the artwork's history.
