Multi-Channel Interactive Installation

Third World — The Bottom Dimension is a large-scale interactive installation by Gabriel Massan and collaborators, presented at Serpentine North Gallery in London from June to November 2023. Visitors entered an immersive multi-channel environment where a custom video game — displayed across a constellation of vertical screens and playable at sculptural controller stations — served as the primary vehicle for exploring themes of decoloniality, queerness, and Afro-diasporic experience.

As Technical Director, I oversaw all technical infrastructure for the exhibition, coordinating with the production team, AV vendors, and on-site technicians across the installation's full run. I was responsible for the integration of multiple display systems and the game hardware into a cohesive physical environment, working closely with the set designers to embed the technology within the organic, entangled aesthetic of the space.

The installation combined real-time game software, custom sculptural playstation enclosures, multi-channel audio, and a web3 component on the Tezos blockchain that allowed visitors to mint records of their gameplay as on-chain tokens — bridging the physical gallery experience with a persistent digital ledger.
